Ise is one of World of Warships' most distinctive hybrid battleships, combining conventional battleship guns with a squadron of torpedo bombers. This gives her two very different ways of influencing a fight: punishing targets with artillery and using aircraft to disrupt enemy positioning.
Her main battery remains important, and Ise can use the standard Japanese battleship build without needing a completely dedicated captain. The guns provide consistent long-range pressure, while the aircraft add tactical utility that conventional battleships simply do not have. Ise is included in the current standard IJN battleship build.
The torpedo bombers are often most valuable for what they force the enemy to do rather than the raw damage they deal. Sending aircraft toward a battleship or cruiser can make the target turn, expose a broadside or abandon an advantageous position. That movement can create a much better shot for your own guns or for teammates waiting to exploit the new angle.
Aircraft are also excellent for spotting. Use them to check behind islands, locate destroyers and maintain vision on ships attempting to disengage. Ise's planes should therefore be viewed as a tactical weapon as much as a damage source. The current Wiki specifically identifies Ise as one of the hybrid ships equipped with torpedo bombers.
Do not be afraid to lose aircraft while achieving something useful. Ise's hybrid squadron is replenished as a complete squadron rather than relying on conventional one-plane-at-a-time carrier regeneration, and the squadron can be used repeatedly after its preparation period.
The best rhythm is to alternate between ship and aircraft weapons based on the situation. Fire your main guns when a good target presents itself, then use the aircraft to spot, force a turn or attack while your guns reload. This keeps Ise contributing even when her artillery is temporarily unavailable.
Ise becomes especially effective when several ships are engaging the same flank. Aircraft approaching from one direction can pressure an enemy into turning broadside toward your battleship or an allied battleship. Think of the planes as a tool for creating firing opportunities rather than simply something to launch whenever it is ready.
The key to Ise is balancing both halves of the ship. Stay alert for valuable main-battery targets, but continually look for opportunities where the torpedo bombers can reveal enemies, disrupt their positioning or create crossfires. Used together, the two weapon systems make Ise far more flexible than a conventional Tier VI battleship.
