Battleship - Japan Tier IX Daisen
Captain & Ship Build and Strategy Guide
- Build focus: Standard Japanese battleship build
- Playstyle: Fast battlecruiser-style battleship with strong main guns and torpedoes
- Main strength: Accurate 410mm guns combined with high speed
- Additional weapon: Long-range torpedoes for close-range engagements
- Captain sharing: Standard IJN BB captain build is perfectly viable if you do not have a dedicated Daisen captain
- Main weakness: Low survivability compared with more heavily protected battleships
- Applies to: Daisen
Daisen is a Tier IX Japanese Premium battleship based on fast Japanese battlecruiser designs. She combines four 410mm turrets with high speed and torpedoes, giving her more mobility and flexibility than a conventional battleship.
You do not need a dedicated captain to play her effectively. The current WoWS Captain Builds guide specifically recommends using the standard IJN battleship captain build when you cannot justify investing in a separate commander for Daisen.
Daisen's main guns are the centerpiece of the ship. Her 410mm battery combines good accuracy with a relatively short reload for a battleship, allowing her to apply consistent pressure at range. Her speed also makes it easier to move between firing positions and react to changes across the battlefield.
The ship's torpedoes add another layer to her close-range game. They should not encourage reckless pushes, particularly because Daisen has comparatively low survivability, but they become extremely useful when an enemy battleship commits to a close engagement or when you need to finish a damaged target.
Daisen's speed is one of her biggest practical advantages. Use it to control the distance rather than simply rushing forward. You can relocate to another flank, kite away from stronger enemies or exploit a collapsing flank much more easily than a slower battleship can.
Keep your HP in reserve for the later stages of the battle. Daisen's relatively small health pool means that absorbing unnecessary damage early can leave you without the durability needed to take advantage of your speed and torpedoes later.
Her Spotting Aircraft is also unusually long-lasting, with up to 240 seconds of action time. This gives Daisen a useful tool for extending her firing range and maintaining pressure during extended engagements.
Overall, Daisen is best played as a mobile Japanese battleship that uses accurate guns from range and transitions toward more aggressive play as the enemy weakens. The standard IJN build provides everything needed to make her effective without requiring a specialized captain.
