Battleship - U.S.A. Tier IX Georgia
Captain & Ship Build and Strategy Guide
- Build focus: Standard tank battleship with secondary specialization
- Playstyle: Fast mid-range battleship with strong late-game brawling potential
- Main strength: Powerful 457mm guns, excellent accuracy and exceptional speed
- Secondary setup: Take the 3-point secondary skill and Secondary Battery Modification 1
- Alternative: Standard Montana build with Main Battery Modification 2 instead of the secondary range upgrade
- IFHE: Not recommended because the extra penetration is not worth the loss in fire chance
- Key consumable: Engine Boost allows Georgia to reposition rapidly and choose engagements
- Brawling: Best saved for the mid- and late-game or favorable fights against lower-tier ships
- Applies to: Georgia
Georgia is one of the fastest battleships in World of Warships, combining 457mm guns, excellent accuracy, strong mobility and a fast-recharging Repair Party. Rather than relying entirely on brute-force armor and HP, she can use her speed to control engagements and quickly relocate when the battlefield changes.
The recommended setup keeps Georgia's standard tank foundation but adds a 3-point secondary skill and the secondary range upgrade. This takes advantage of her improved secondary accuracy without turning the ship into a dedicated brawler. The current community build specifically recommends this hybrid approach.
IFHE is not recommended. The additional penetration does not provide enough practical benefit to justify sacrificing secondary fire chance, so the build is better served by maintaining the ability to start fires while still benefiting from Georgia's accurate secondary battery.
A standard U.S. Montana battleship build can also be used if you want to share a commander. In that case, use Main Battery Modification 2 rather than the secondary range upgrade. American battleships use a different upgrade option in Slot 3, so Georgia does not receive the standard battleship accuracy modification there.
Despite having excellent secondaries, Georgia is usually most effective at mid range. Her 457mm guns are the primary reason to play the ship, and her speed allows you to maintain favorable distances while looking for broadside targets. Use the main battery to generate consistent damage before committing to a close fight.
Engine Boost is central to the ship's identity. It improves both speed and engine power, allowing Georgia to accelerate, disengage and reposition much more effectively than a conventional battleship. This mobility is useful offensively and defensively, letting you change the geometry of an engagement rather than simply accepting whatever fight develops in front of you.
The secondary battery becomes much more valuable once the battle moves into close range, but rushing forward simply because you can is rarely the correct play. Early in the match, use your speed to establish useful positions and keep your HP in reserve. Once enemy ships are damaged or isolated, Georgia can switch from mid-range gunfighter to aggressive brawler very quickly.
Her mobility also gives you more freedom to disengage and recover. Engine Boost can shorten the time needed to leave a collapsing flank, while Georgia's fast Repair Party helps restore health that would be permanently lost on many other battleships. This combination makes her particularly dangerous in the later stages of a battle, when fewer enemy ships remain capable of punishing an aggressive push.
The key is to use Georgia's speed to create opportunities rather than simply to close distance. Fight from mid range while the enemy is strong, reposition rapidly when the flank changes, and save the full brawling potential for moments when the opposing force is already weakened or outnumbered.
