Battleship - UK Tier VI Repulse
Captain & Ship Build and Strategy Guide
- Build focus: Standard RN battlecruiser build
- Playstyle: Fast, accurate mid- to long-range battlecruiser
- Key advantage: Better main battery accuracy and a longer-lasting Engine Boost than Renown
- Captain sharing: Can share the RN BC / St. Vincent line build
- Low-tier skill choice: Basics of Survivability over Improved Repair Party Readiness
- Positioning: Use speed and range to control engagements rather than relying on armor
- Applies to: Repulse
Repulse is the sister ship of Renown and follows the same general Royal Navy battlecruiser philosophy: speed, accurate guns and mobility instead of heavy protection. Compared with Renown, Repulse trades some of her sister ship's features for improved main battery accuracy and a longer-lasting Engine Boost.
The standard RN battlecruiser build works well for Repulse and can be shared with captains used on the St. Vincent line. The current WoWS Builds guide specifically recommends Basics of Survivability for dedicated Tier III–VII captains instead of Improved Repair Party Readiness, as these ships are less likely to accumulate the potential damage required to justify the additional heal charge.
Repulse is at her best when she can use her speed to choose favorable engagements. Rather than sitting in one position and trading damage, keep moving between useful firing positions and use the Engine Boost to accelerate repositioning, escape dangerous situations or create better firing angles.
Her improved accuracy makes broadside targets particularly attractive. Look for cruisers and battleships that expose their sides, then punish them with well-placed AP salvos. The ability to quickly change position means you can often disengage after firing and reappear from another angle before the enemy can properly respond.
Do not confuse Repulse's speed with the ability to brawl freely. Like the wider St. Vincent battlecruiser concept, she relies on mobility and positioning for protection. Pushing directly into concentrated enemy fire can quickly turn her speed advantage into a liability, especially when several ships have clear firing angles.
Keep the minimap visible and plan your escape route before committing forward. Repulse can cover distance quickly, but that does not mean she can survive being surrounded. Staying on a flank or slightly behind your team's initial push gives you more room to exploit your mobility.
The result is a fast and accurate battlecruiser that rewards active positioning. Use the Engine Boost to control the distance, take advantage of exposed targets and keep moving before the enemy can concentrate fire on you.
