- Applies to: Błyskawica ’52
Błyskawica ’52 is a versatile Polish destroyer built around one of the most valuable tools for controlling capture points: a fast-reloading 9 km Surveillance Radar. This makes her particularly effective at denying caps and hunting enemy destroyers, giving her a playstyle somewhat reminiscent of the Gdańsk line. At the same time, her 30mm HE penetration allows her to transition into respectable long-range damage farming when there are no immediate destroyer targets to hunt.
The strength of this build is its flexibility. Błyskawica ’52 does not have to commit to being either a dedicated radar destroyer or a pure damage farmer. Early in the battle, use the Radar to pressure enemy DDs and make capture zones dangerous for them. Once the main destroyer threats have been identified or eliminated, shift toward open-water gunboating and look for opportunities to farm larger targets.
Radar management is particularly important because the ship does not have a Smoke Generator. Activating Radar should therefore have a clear purpose: catching an enemy destroyer, denying a capture attempt, or creating a favorable engagement for your team. The fast reload gives Błyskawica ’52 repeated opportunities to threaten capture points, but wasting a charge without meaningful follow-up can leave you exposed without gaining much in return.
The ship's 30mm HE penetration also gives her a useful second identity as a damage farmer. When destroyers are no longer the priority, larger targets become viable sources of sustained damage. Rather than relying on fires as the only source of damage, her HE can directly penetrate a wider range of armored sections, allowing consistent farming against suitable cruisers and battleships.
Błyskawica ’52 is considerably more demanding to operate than many conventional destroyers. Her lack of smoke means that open-water maneuvering is essential, while her relatively floaty shell arcs require more careful aim at longer distances. Constantly adjusting speed and heading while maintaining effective gunfire is a major part of the ship's gameplay.
For players who want more information about enemy destroyer movements, AFT can be replaced with Radio Location. RPF can help determine the direction of the nearest enemy and make Radar activations more deliberate, particularly when an opposing DD is attempting to remain hidden around an island or near a capture point.
Players focused primarily on damage farming can take the more aggressive route by replacing Concealment Expert with Fearless Brawler. This increases the ship's offensive potential, but the resulting engagement profile can weaken her anti-DD performance. Błyskawica ’52 becomes more effective at sustained open-water farming, while the increased engagement range can make Radar less effective at converting detection into immediate gun damage against destroyers.
Radar Modification 1 is the preferred choice when the primary objective is anti-DD play. Extending the useful duration of the Radar gives your team more time to damage a detected destroyer and makes each Radar activation more threatening. For players who instead want to maximize damage farming, Speed Boost Modification 1 provides more value by improving the mobility that keeps Błyskawica ’52 alive while she operates in open water.
The key to Błyskawica ’52 is adapting to the battle rather than forcing one playstyle from start to finish. Use Radar and gunfire to influence destroyer engagements early, then exploit your HE penetration and mobility to farm larger targets once the map opens up. The ship rewards constant attention, accurate positioning and frequent micro-adjustments, but in return gives you the tools to influence both capture-point fights and overall damage output.
