Battleship - Türkiye Tier VIII Turgut Reis
Captain & Ship Build and Strategy Guide
- Build focus: Standard Pan-European battleship build
- Playstyle: Mid- to long-range battleship with late-game brawling potential
- Build comparison: Can use the same build as Thor
- Advanced option: Trade Enhanced Repair Specialist and Grease the Gears for Improved Repair Party Readiness
- Main strength: Powerful main battery combined with a Superheal
- Key consumables: Radar, Repair Party and 6 km torpedoes
- Main battery: Excellent HE fire chance makes HE a serious part of the ship's damage output
- Key limitation: Torpedoes are short-ranged and should be reserved for close-range engagements
- Applies to: Turgut Reis
Turgut Reis combines several characteristics of the Pan-European battleship line with a more conventional battleship playstyle. Compared with the Thor-style concept, she gives up some torpedo range and speed utility in exchange for stronger main guns and a Superheal, making her much more comfortable as a conventional gun-focused battleship.
The standard Thor captain build can be used directly. For a fully optimized high-level captain, Enhanced Repair Specialist and Grease the Gears can be exchanged for Improved Repair Party Readiness, but the additional benefit is relatively small. The change becomes more reasonable when you already have spare high-level commanders and want to optimize specifically for Turgut Reis.
Turgut Reis is best played primarily from mid to long range. Her main guns are the centerpiece of the ship, and the enormous HE fire chance gives you a strong reason to keep HE loaded against angled or heavily protected targets. Do not treat AP as your only serious ammunition option; use HE when the target's angle makes AP unreliable.
The Superheal gives Turgut Reis an important advantage later in the battle. Preserving HP during the opening stages gives you much more freedom to become aggressive once enemy ships are damaged or their numbers have been reduced. That is when Turgut can transition from a long-range gun platform into a much more dangerous close-range threat.
Radar is better viewed as a mid- to late-game zoning tool than something you should use constantly at the start of the match. Its duration is long enough to enable a single battleship salvo, making it particularly useful for catching destroyers in vulnerable positions or forcing enemy ships away from important areas.
The torpedoes require a different mindset from the longer-ranged torpedoes found on some Pan-European battleships. With only 6 km of range, they are primarily a brawling tool. Save them for close-range pushes, finishing damaged ships or punishing a battleship that has committed to fighting you rather than trying to launch them from long range.
Her Superheal also makes late-game pushes much more attractive. Once opposing destroyers and cruisers have been weakened, Turgut Reis can use her remaining health to close the distance, pressure destroyers and threaten enemy battleships with a combination of main guns and torpedoes.
The key is to avoid turning that late-game strength into an early-game weakness. A premature push can waste the Superheal and leave you surrounded before your short-range torpedoes become useful. Stay patient early, farm damage with the main guns and use the minimap to identify when a flank has become weak enough to attack.
Turgut Reis rewards a two-stage approach: play like a conventional battleship while the enemy team is healthy, then become increasingly aggressive as the battle develops. Make full use of the ship's strong guns and HE fire chance at range, preserve your Superheal, and keep the 6 km torpedoes ready for the close-range fights where they actually matter.
