Theseus is a Tier VIII British aircraft carrier built around a straightforward but flexible aircraft lineup: torpedo bombers and HE skip bombers. The supplied build screenshot shows the ship using a standard 18/21-point commander setup with Andrew Cunningham, rather than a highly specialized carrier build.
The two aircraft types give Theseus a useful balance between direct damage and damage over time. Her torpedo bombers provide reliable pressure against larger ships, while the HE skip bombers are better suited to targets where direct HE damage and fires can generate consistent results. The current Wiki lists Theseus among the carriers equipped with HE skip bombs and torpedo bombers.
The standard build makes sense because Theseus does not depend on a single unusual gimmick. Instead, the captain setup supports the overall aircraft operation, allowing you to repeatedly send strikes while keeping enough flexibility to select the appropriate squadron for each target.
Torpedo bombers are generally the better choice against battleships and other larger ships. Look for targets that are isolated, moving predictably or already committed to a turn. The goal is not simply to land torpedoes, but to attack from angles that make the target's evasive options more difficult.
The HE skip bombers provide the alternative damage profile. Use them against targets where HE penetration and fires are valuable, particularly ships that are lightly armored or already committed to a position. Skip bombs also allow you to attack ships from unusual angles and can be useful when conventional approaches are blocked by terrain or enemy positioning.
Theseus should not waste aircraft attacking every available target. Look for isolated ships and targets that are important to the current battle. A well-timed strike against a destroyer threatening your flank or a battleship pushing an objective can have much more impact than repeatedly farming a ship that is already safely retreating.
The carrier hull itself should remain safely behind the frontline. Plan repositioning early because the carrier needs time to react when the battle shifts. Keeping the ship centrally enough positioned also reduces the travel time for aircraft moving between both flanks.
Andrew Cunningham is a natural fit for the standard build shown here. His skills and talents can provide additional value during battles where Theseus is able to generate repeated damage and successful strikes, making him a strong general-purpose commander for the carrier.
The key to Theseus is flexibility. Use torpedo bombers for reliable pressure against larger targets, switch to HE skip bombers when fires and HE damage are more valuable, and keep the carrier positioned so both sides of the battlefield remain accessible. The standard build provides a solid foundation without forcing the ship into an overly specialized playstyle.
