Hayate

Hayate_standard_build

  • Hayate is a solid all around universal DD with both respectable guns and powerful torpedoes. Keep in mind her 6.1km best conceal is on the high end for universal DDs
  • This is a general purpose build that allows Hayate to both support friendly DDs in cap contests, as well as deal reasonable amounts of damage to larger ships.
  • This build forgoes torpedo reloading skills as Hayate gets TRB
  • If you feel like you could use some extra gun range, swap FB for AFT.
  • A Suzuki captain is a decent option for all IJN DDs due to his improved SE skill.
  • If you don’t have the Engine boost mod, use ERP.

Strategy Guide

The Hayate is categorized as a universal-type destroyer, serving as a solid all-rounder that features both respectable guns and powerful torpedoes. Its playstyle revolves around a general-purpose role where it supports friendly destroyers during capture zone contests and scouts for the team.

Key aspects of the Hayate's playstyle include:

  • Early Game Objective Play: Your primary task is to contest caps and keep enemy destroyers in check while providing spotting and utility for your allies.
  • Engagement and Concealment: You must be cautious with positioning because its 6.1 km best concealment is considered on the high end (less stealthy) for a universal destroyer.
  • Damage Output: The ship is designed to deal reasonable amounts of damage to larger enemy vessels using its hybrid armament.
  • Torpedo Tactics: The Hayate has access to the Torpedo Reload Booster (TRB), which allows the ship to forgo torpedo reloading skills in its captain build while still maintaining significant torpedo threat.
  • Performance Rating: In terms of game impact for solo random battles, the Hayate is rated as underpowered (3/10) and is generally a low priority for coal purchases compared to other Tier X options.
