Elli is a European Tier VI premium light cruiser that combines excellent mobility with a surprisingly capable main battery. Armed with eight 152mm guns, she can maintain effective fire at range while using her high top speed and maneuverability to rapidly change position and avoid return fire.
The ship's greatest advantage is mobility. Elli can reach very high speeds for a Tier VI cruiser, allowing her to reposition quickly when the battle moves to another flank. This also makes her well suited to open-water kiting, where constantly changing speed and direction can make enemy battleship and cruiser salvos much harder to land.
Her main battery is another major strength. The eight 152mm guns have good range and firing characteristics, making Elli comfortable when supporting destroyers or farming larger ships from a distance. Rather than sitting in one position and repeatedly firing at the same target, use the ship's mobility to create better firing angles and make yourself a difficult target at the same time.
Early in the battle, Elli can provide useful support for allied destroyers. Her combination of speed and accurate gunfire allows her to move into supporting positions quickly, but avoid becoming the first cruiser spotted and focused by the entire enemy team. Elli is much more effective when she can contribute damage while retaining enough distance and mobility to disengage.
Once the initial destroyer engagements are over, transition into open-water damage farming. Maintain a comfortable engagement distance and constantly vary your course and speed. Your goal is to make enemy ships waste salvos trying to hit you while your guns continue producing consistent damage.
Elli's torpedoes provide another useful tool when opponents close the distance. Three torpedoes are available on each side, giving the ship a meaningful close-range punch despite her primary role as a gun cruiser. They are particularly useful around islands, chokepoints and against enemy ships that attempt to rush your position.
Hydroacoustic Search adds additional utility when fighting around objectives or islands. It can help detect approaching ships and torpedoes, making it easier to avoid surprise attacks when operating close to the action. Defensive AA Fire provides another option when aircraft threaten the ship or nearby allies.
The main limitation of Elli is that her mobility should not be mistaken for tankiness. She can dodge extremely well, but she does not want to absorb repeated battleship or cruiser salvos. Once several enemy ships begin focusing you, use your speed to create distance and reposition rather than relying on the hull to withstand the incoming damage.
Elli therefore rewards an active playstyle. Keep moving, constantly reassess your position and use your speed to dictate the engagement distance. If an enemy flank collapses, Elli can quickly relocate; if an opportunity appears on the opposite side of the map, her speed allows her to arrive before many slower cruisers.
Overall, Elli is best played as a mobile gun cruiser rather than a stationary damage farmer. Use the excellent 152mm guns to support your destroyers and pressure larger ships, rely on maneuverability to avoid return fire, and keep the torpedoes ready for opponents who get too close. Her combination of speed, guns and utility makes her a flexible Tier VI cruiser that rewards active positioning and good situational awareness.
Historically, Elli was the Greek name given to the Italian cruiser Eugenio di Savoia. The ship was transferred to Greece in 1951 and became the flagship of the Royal Hellenic Navy, serving in that role during the 1950s.
