Cruiser - UK Tier X Goliath
Damage Build and Strategy Guide
UK CA Goliath - Damage Build
- Build focus: Maximum damage output with some concealment retained
- Playstyle: Longer-range HE damage farming and kiting
- Build limitation: Reduced engagement control compared with the standard build
- Applies to: Goliath only
- Commander: Dunkirk is a decent choice because of his improved Grease the Gears skill
- Hydro option: Use Hydroacoustic Search Modification when available; otherwise Emergency Repair Specialist
- Alternative build: A separate Standard Goliath build is also available. You can find the full build here: Goliath Standard Build
Goliath's Damage Build is designed to maximize damage output while retaining some concealment for engagement control. Compared with the standard build, this setup pushes Goliath toward longer-range play and gives up some of the flexibility provided by a more balanced setup.
This build is specifically intended for Goliath. Her good survivability and strong HE ammunition allow her to absorb some of the defensive compromises required for a more offensive commander setup. Other ships in the British cruiser line should not automatically use the same build.
Because the build prioritizes firepower, you will generally want to operate from a greater distance than with the standard setup. This gives you more time to use Goliath's guns while reducing the amount of incoming damage you take, but it also means you have less control over the engagement and may find it more difficult to influence objectives directly.
Goliath's HE is particularly well suited to this role. Maintain fire on enemy battleships and cruisers whenever you have a safe firing position, using your range to build sustained damage rather than looking for short-range engagements. The objective is to keep the guns working continuously while avoiding unnecessary exposure.
Dunkirk is a decent commander option because of his improved Grease the Gears skill. Faster turret traverse can make the ship more comfortable when switching between targets during mobile engagements, particularly when enemies are approaching from different angles.
For the Hydroacoustic Search upgrade, use Hydroacoustic Search Modification when available. If you do not have the modification, Emergency Repair Specialist is the straightforward alternative.
The main trade-off of this build is engagement control. With less emphasis on concealment and positioning flexibility, you need to rely more heavily on distance and movement to stay safe. Watch the minimap carefully and avoid allowing enemy ships to gradually close the gap while you remain committed to a firing position.
The Standard Goliath Build is available as a separate option for players who prefer a more balanced setup with stronger engagement control and survivability. You can find the full build here: Goliath Standard Build.
The Damage Build is best suited to players who already understand Goliath's strengths and are comfortable giving up some flexibility for additional offensive output. Keep your distance, make use of the ship's strong HE and continue repositioning before enemy ships can force you into unfavorable fights.
Overall, this setup turns Goliath into a more dedicated damage farmer. Use the additional firepower from range, rely on her strong HE and respectable survivability, and avoid unnecessary close-range engagements. The standard build remains available when you want a more balanced Goliath experience.
