- The Grozovoi branch consists of versatile hybrid destroyers with shifting characteristics across tiers, sharing high shell velocity, strong AA capabilities, and diverse consumable choices.
- This standard build allows Grozovoi to contest capture zones effectively while maintaining high open-water damage output against larger surface targets. While usable on Ognevoi and Udaloi during line progression without commander retraining, ship-specific builds are recommended for peak performance.
- For a dedicated Udaloi commander, utilizing the Delny open-water gunboat build is recommended.
- If extra firing range is not required for open-water farming, swap Advanced Firing Training (AFT / Main Battery and AA Expert) for Main Battery and AA Specialist (BFT), drop Consumable Specialist (CS), and take Consumable Specialist plus additional utility skills with leftover points.
- For a dedicated open-water damage build—which trades objective impact for raw damage output—swap Concealment Expert (CE) for Fearless Brawler (FB).
- Equipping Grozovoi's Unique Upgrade (Legendary Upgrade) is strongly recommended for main battery DPM, but increases surface detection to 6.7 km, significantly changing engagement ranges against stealthier destroyers.
- Alexander Ovechkin is an exceptional commander choice for all Soviet destroyers due to his improved Survivability Expert (SE) skill.
