Captain & Ship Build and Strategy Guide
- Build focus: Standard submarine build
- Playstyle: Fast, aggressive submarine focused on sustained underwater operations
- Primary weapon: Deepwater torpedoes
- Key feature: Reserve battery extends underwater operating time
- Captain build: Standard submarine setup with an emphasis on consumable improvements
- Key skill: Enlarged Propeller Shaft (EPS)
- EPS bonus: +18% speed while the battery is below half
- Recommended tactic: Deliberately drain the battery below 50% early to activate EPS
- Reserve battery: Use it when the main battery is below half to keep EPS active
- Applies to: Xin Zhong Guo 14
Xin Zhong Guo 14is a Tier VIII Pan-Asian submarine built around speed, deepwater torpedoes and extended underwater endurance. Her reserve battery gives her additional flexibility below the surface, while the Enlarged Propeller Shaft (EPS) skill rewards careful management of the main battery level.
The recommended setup is the standard submarine build, with particular emphasis on improving consumables so you can make better use of EPS. The goal is not simply to remain underwater as long as possible, but to deliberately manage the battery so that you can maintain the speed bonus for as much of the battle as practical.
At the beginning of the match, the ideal approach is to drain the battery below 50% so EPS activates its +18% speed bonus. Once active, Xin Zhong Guo 14 becomes a very mobile submarine that can move around the enemy formation, reposition quickly and launch torpedoes from multiple angles.
The reserve battery is important because it allows you to stay underwater while maintaining the EPS condition. When the main battery has already fallen below half, use the reserve battery rather than allowing yourself to surface simply because the normal underwater battery is running low.
The deepwater torpedoes are your primary offensive weapon. Use your speed to circle around enemy formations, attack from unexpected directions and keep larger ships under continuous pressure. Because you can remain underwater for extended periods, you have more opportunities to reposition before committing to another torpedo attack.
The aggressive playstyle also allows some entertaining surface tactics. Once you have the opportunity, you can surface briefly and use the ship's single gun to harass or troll exposed targets. This should obviously remain a situational tactic rather than your primary source of damage.
The key is to avoid wasting the EPS advantage. Do not burn through your reserve battery unnecessarily while already in a safe position. Use it when the main battery is below half and you need to remain underwater, keeping the +18% speed bonus active while continuing to maneuver around the enemy.
Historically, Xin Zhong Guo 14 was based on the Soviet S-25 submarine, which was transferred to the People's Republic of China in 1955. Her name literally translates to “New China No. 14.”
Overall, Xin Zhong Guo 14 rewards aggressive battery management. Drain the battery early, activate EPS, use the reserve battery to stay underwater and exploit the increased speed to constantly reposition and spam deepwater torpedoes. Her mobility is the foundation of the playstyle, so keep moving and force the enemy to react to you.
