Conte Verde is a Tier X Italian battleship that can be thought of as Venezia's bigger brother. She brings heavier firepower and a stronger hull while giving up some of Venezia's maneuverability. Despite being classified as a battleship, her gameplay is much closer to that of a cruiser, with SAP and concealment playing a central role.
The standard tank battleship build is recommended. Conte Verde does not need a specialized gimmick build to be effective, and her existing SAP-focused playstyle benefits from the general survivability provided by the tank setup. The 2-point AA skill is useful because it reduces consumable cooldowns, but other 2-point options are perfectly reasonable depending on your preferred playstyle.
Sansonetti is a particularly good commander for Conte Verde and can share the same build used on Colombo. This makes him a convenient option if you already have an Italian battleship commander developed for the tech-tree line.
In Slot 1, Spotting Aircraft Modification 1 is preferred. If you do not have the Spotter modification, Main Armaments Modification 1 is the straightforward alternative.
Conte Verde's gameplay is very similar to Venezia: look for targets that are not bow-in and punish them with SAP. Enemy destroyers should be a priority whenever possible. A good SAP salvo can remove a significant portion of a DD's health, while the high shell velocity makes it easier to land those shots reliably against moving targets.
Against larger ships, focus on lightly armored sections rather than simply firing at the thickest part of the hull. Conte Verde's SAP is most effective when you deliberately select sections that allow the shells to penetrate and deal direct damage. This is particularly important because the ship's role is sustained damage and target pressure rather than traditional battleship alpha strikes.
Do not be afraid to use Conte Verde's bulk to tank when the situation calls for it. Her stronger hull gives you more freedom to absorb some punishment while your team makes plays. However, remember that you have only one smoke screen, so it should be treated as an emergency escape tool rather than a farming consumable.
The ideal use for the smoke is when Conte Verde is in genuine danger of being destroyed or needs to disengage from a bad position. Saving that one charge can give you a valuable second chance later in the battle. Burning it simply to farm a few additional salvos can leave you without an escape option when you actually need one.
Overall, Conte Verde should be treated more like a large cruiser than a traditional battleship. Focus destroyers whenever possible, use SAP against lightly armored and non-bow-in targets, take advantage of the ship's bulk when necessary and preserve the single Smoke charge for emergencies. Her combination of heavy firepower and cruiser-style gameplay makes her a highly versatile Italian battleship.
